Rounds Cosponsors Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill

WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today announced he is an original cosponsor of the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, legislation to allow individuals with concealed carry privileges in their home state to exercise those rights in any other state that also has concealed carry laws, while abiding by that state’s laws.

“As an avid hunter and lifelong gun owner, I have always been a strong defender of the Second Amendment,” said Rounds. “This legislation will strengthen the fundamental right of individuals to bear arms as embedded in the Constitution while protecting states’ abilities to enact reasonable concealed carry restrictions. Under this bill, law-abiding gun owners will be able to travel across state lines with their concealed carry permit, weapon and appropriate identification as long as they are not otherwise prohibited from carrying a concealed weapon.”

The bill was introduced by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and is cosponsored by U.S. Sens. John Barasso (R-Wyo.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Dean Heller (R-Nev.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), David Perdue (R-Ga.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.).
